In a June 13 profile for Vanity Fair, Reinhold, 67, revealed to the publication that the 1988 “body-swap” movie starring Fred Savage bombed at the box office because of other films that were out at the same time and some behind-the-scenes actions taken by former Columbia Pictures CEO David Puttnam.
“It was essentially a conspiracy to kill an executive. He remarked, “We all loved David Puttnam, the producer of ‘Chariots of Fire,’ who went on to head Columbia Pictures because he was a creative and had done indies.”
David’s goal to lower lead actor fees while maintaining true backside earnings was a drawback. David’s goal to lower lead actor fees while maintaining true backside earnings was a drawback.
For fifteen months, from June 1986 to September 1987, Puttnam served as CEO. “I believed him,” he went on. I did, truly.
Unfortunately, he didn’t live long enough to validate that formula.” A divorced executive and his 11-year-old kid are followed in “Vice Versa” as they come across an enigmatic Tibetan skull.
The two exchange bodies as a result of the skull’s magical power being released.
A number of age-change films were released at the same time as the movie, including “Big” and “18 Again!” in 1988, and “Like Father Like Son” in 1987, as reported by Vanity Fair.
It was Kirk Cameron and Dudley Moore’s “Like Father Like Son.” According to Reinhold, “Tri-Star Pictures threw that movie into production while we were already shooting.”
Moreover, Coca-Cola owned both businesses. I was aware going into the movie that it carried some risk to identify so strongly with the others.
I am aware that this was a previously explored premise. The Dudley Moore film was unknown to me.
The actor from “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” went on to play the lead role in “The Santa Clause” television series and appeared in numerous television movies as well as guest spots on “Ellen,” “Monk,” and “Arrested Development.”
All of the “Beverly Hills Cop” films, including the 2013 TV film, starred Reinhold. On July 3, Netflix’s new film “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” featuring him reprising his role as Billy Rosewood launches.
Two sequels to the beloved buddy-cop action comedy were produced, with Murphy reprising his role as the title sharp street cop who moved to California from Detroit to look into corruption and crime.
“Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley” brings back Murphy and Reinhold along with Bronson Pinchot, Paul Reiser, and John Ashton, who are franchise co-stars.
Stars like Taylour Paige, Kevin Bacon, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are new to the franchise.
