The fire started near the renowned Jacob Wirth Restaurant on Stuart Street.
A large fire was burning in what seemed to be a couple of buildings in Boston’s Theater District on Monday night.
The Boston Fire Department released photos of the fire on Stuart Street, one block from the Boston Common at Boylston and Tremont streets.
The blazing buildings looked to be the two homes that had housed Jacob Wirth Restaurant.
The fire was believed to have cost $3 million in damages. The structures were under construction, according to the Boston Fire Department.
At one point, their entire crew was escorted out.
Fire officials announced just after midnight that strong flames had been extinguished.
Crews continued to combat hot areas. The Jacob Wirth space, a local landmark, had been closed for years, but developers intended to revive the beer hall, according to the Boston Business Journal last year.
