Concerns regarding the former president’s mental capacity were stoked by a string of films released by President Joe Biden’s 2024 campaign, which featured the Republican opponent, Donald Trump, making awkward remarks and using nonsensical language.
In one piece of footage, Mr. Trump was heard speaking in New Hampshire midsentence: “Which is incapable of solvin’ even the smallest problem? The simplest of problems we can no longer solve.”
“We are an institute of the powerful death penalty. We will put this on.” Mr. Trump made a mistake.
The Republican nominee for president in 2024 appears to be acting as the storyteller in a different video, saying,Yes, oh yes, and quickly saying, President Trump. We will be there very quickly.”
The former president said “clime” during a Saturday campaign rally in New Hampshire, as if he couldn’t pronounce the term “climate.”
On the same occasion, Mr. Trump gave people comfort by claiming that he recently passed a test of mental competence. He said to cheering followers, “I don’t know if you saw, but a few months ago, I took a cognitive test my doctor gave me.”
According to the former president, he had asked to take the test: “I said, ‘give me a cognitive test, just so we can know,’ because you know what the standards were, and I aced it.”
Mr. Trump even declared on Monday that he would do better on a cognitive test than his Republican opponent, Nikki Haley. He said, “Well, I think I’m a lot sharper than her. I would do this: I would sit down right now and take an aptitude test, and it would be my result against her result, and she’s not going to win, not even come close to winning.”
After Mr. Trump seemed to mistake her for Speaker Nancy Pelosi during a campaign rally and assert that she was in control of “security” during the attack on the Capitol on January 6, Ms. Haley questioned Mr. Trump’s mental state.
Additionally, Mr. Trump boasted about his performance on a cognitive test while he was president. He took great pride in his recollection.
In 2020, he said, “It’s like you’ll go ‘person, woman, man, camera, TV’. So they’ll say, ‘could you repeat that?’ So I said ‘yeah’. So it’s person, woman, man, camera, TV. OK, that’s very good.”
Donald Trump continued: “If you get it in order, you get extra points. [The doctor] said nobody gets it in order; it’s actually not that easy, but for me, it was easy.”
