In New York City, Christie Brinkley and Billy Joel enjoyed a sentimental moment! The 70-year-old model was spotted by a fan dancing to her ex-husband’s popular song “Uptown Girl” on Friday, April 26, as she took part in his performance at Madison Square Garden.
In the TikTok video, Brinkley could be seen by the entire crowd grinning broadly and dancing to the song with a buddy while she was displayed on a large screen.
As Joel, seventy-four, sang, she peered up at the stage, most likely at him. She saw him perform the song he wrote about her for the entire Madison Square Garden audience tonight.
The admirer added, “40 years later, and your ex-man is still smiling at you like that while he sings the song he wrote about how rich and hot you are?” in the video’s caption.
In 1983, Joel released the smash song. According to supermodel Elle Macpherson, Brinkley starred in the music video, and although the singer was dating her when he began writing the song, they broke up in the middle of the production.
To put it another way, I believe it’s about all the uptown chicks. In a 2018 Watch What Happens Live appearance, Macpherson, 60, commented about the song and mentioned Joel’s preference for tall girls.
When Macpherson started dating Brinkley exclusively, he allegedly “ousted” her from a Manhattan residence.
Billy Joel revealed that he wrote “Uptown Girl” about every model in Manhattan when he first started dating Brinkley.
This was revealed in his 2014 biography, Billy Joel: The Definitive Biography. After getting married in 1985 and welcoming their daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, Brinkley and the “Piano Man” singer separated in 1994.
