Home Depot co-founder says Trump’s time ‘has come and gone’, praises Haley

Enormous conservative and co-founder of Home Depot Ken Langone declared on Fox News that he is officially endorsing and backing former governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley, for the presidency in 2024.

The 88-year-old businessman, who along with conservative businessman Bernie Marcus and Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank co-founded the big-box home improvement store chain, announced on “Your World” on Friday that he will be endorsing Haley as she rises in the polls to challenge Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former President Trump.

Langone said, “Yes, I am going to support her. I think she is just what we need right now. I think her approach is smart; I also think she’s clarified herself on some issues.”

“More importantly, I think the American people need this kind of leadership—statesmanlike, elegant—just think of where we’ve been the last six or seven years. It’s not good.”

In the 2016 elections, Langone backed former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. However, once the now-2024 candidate withdrew, Langone switched her support to former Ohio Governor John Kasich.

Regarding DeSantis, Langone acknowledged that his poll “numbers aren’t changing” but added that he had no genuine problems with the conservative governor.

According to Langone, one of the main reasons he is endorsing the candidate is that America cannot tolerate Biden serving another term as president. He stated this on “Your World.”

In response to a question regarding the clear front-runner Trump, real estate tycoon Langone stated that the man’s time “had come and gone” and that his last few months in power did not reflect well on him.

Langone compared the claims made by Trump that he won the 2020 election to those made by former vice president Al Gore, who claimed to have felt the same way in 2000 but behaved differently after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Texas governor George W. Bush at the time.

Langone recounted that during the hanging chads incident in Miami-Dade, Florida, Gore’s attorney, David Boies, reportedly urged him to keep battling. However, the Tennessee Democrat finally replied, “The American people have had enough.”

“He placed the people of America above himself.” It was shameful what Trump endured during the final three months of his administration in this nation.”
