Kristen Wiig, a former cast member on Saturday Night Live, became a member of the show’s “five-timers club” on Saturday.
Her monologue featured visits by a number of other past hosts, some of whom had not had the gig five times but donned jackets of their own regardless.
During her most recent performance on Saturday Night Live, which took place in December amid fellow SNL veteran Kate McKinnon’s monologue, Wiig did not make it very far into her monologue when Paul Rudd, who is a true five-timer, cried out from the audience.
Rudd appeared disheartened and slunk back into his chair after Wiig informed him that there was no club-related sketch scheduled for later in the show when he was notified of this information. However, his reappearance was not far off.
While everything was going on, Wiig received a message from Matt Damon, who happened to be wearing a “five-timers” blazer despite the fact that he had only hosted twice.
It is Lorne Michaels. An explanation was provided by Damon, who stated that the first time he hosted, it counted for three.
when a few moments, when Wiig had pondered whether or not the jacket still has any significance, Michaels himself made an appearance at the edge of the stage, along with Fred Armisen, Jon Hamm, Will Forte, and Martin Short, all of whom were gloating about their unearned jackets.
Forte stated that over the course of their careers, they had completed a total of five hosting engagements.
Then, Hamm and Short made a plea with the creator of Saturday Night Live to give them hosting roles in the future.
Rudd, who was ecstatic about the subject matter of Wiig’s monologue, was unable to contain his excitement. “Aw, sweet! So we are doing a five-timers sketch!”
But for Wiig, the event “doesn’t seem all that spectacular” at this point. This is especially true considering that Damon was then presented with another jacket for his portrayal of Brett Kavanaugh, who was a nominee for the Supreme Court at the time.
In addition, Damon’s attempt to improve Wiig’s disposition by informing her that she was the first female member of the club and the youngest member of the club was unsuccessful because he was incorrect on both aforementioned counts.
Once more, he attempted to ask, “First French woman?”
By way of a direct response, Wiig stated, “I am not a French woman.”
Forte noticed someone else of importance off to the right as the six male hosts joined Wiig on stage and began singing. It’s a miracle! Are you sure that’s Ryan Gosling?
After trying on his own jacket next to Michael’s while holding Wiig’s, Ryan Gosling, who will be hosting Saturday Night Live for the third time next week, was doing so. Following that, he approached her and assisted her in putting it on.
Wiig is the second host to qualify for the five-timer club on Saturday Night Live this season. It was in December when Emma Stone did so.
