On June 20, Kroger is having a free pint giveaway in honor of the summer solstice! This Is How You Can Get One

On June 20, in observance of the summer solstice, which is considered “the official start of summer,” Kroger supermarkets will give away an incredible 45,000 pints of their own-brand ice cream.

That means that for every “900 minutes of sunlight” predicted for the day, there will be 50 quarts.

“With more sunshine to enjoy a sweet treat, we are giving away ice cream for 15 hours straight, that is a whole lot of free ice cream!” said Juan De Paoli, vice president of Kroger’s store brands business, expressing delight about the offer.

Customers must first visit FreeKrogerIceCream.com on June 20 to receive a digital coupon that is good for one time use on any Kroger brand ice cream pint, while supplies last.

This is the prerequisite for customers to claim their free pints. The validity of these coupons is valid through June 27, as a Kroger representative verified to Nexstar.

The hitch is that the coupons aren’t valid in the ten states (California, Colorado, Idaho, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, Nevada, Tennessee, and Virginia) where Kroger operates stores.

A spokesman did, however, clarify that they should be accepted at all other Kroger Family of Stores locations.

Currently, 35 states are home to more than 2,750 supermarkets operated by Kroger. Customers can use the store locator on Kroger’s official website to identify locations that are close by.
