Results of the 2024 Jammu and Kashmir election show that independent candidate Abdul Rashid is leading, with Omar Abdullah trailing in Baramulla

In Baramulla, Omar Abdullah, the candidate for the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), is behind independent Abdul Rashid Sheikh, commonly known as Er Rashid, by 41024 votes.

Sajad Gani Lone of the Jammu & Kashmir People Conference and Mir Mohammad Fayaz of the Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party are two more notable contenders in the race.

As the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 count begins, J&K has implemented extensive security precautions.

According to preliminary results, Abdul Rashid Sheikh, an independent candidate, was leading in Baramulla, JKNC was leading in Rajouri and Srinagar, while the BJP was leading in Jammu and Udhampur.

Shiekh is being held in Tihar jail on charges connected to militancy. One of the five seats in the Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory is the Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency.

Following the repeal of Article 370 in 2019, the region saw its first general election in the Lok Sabha elections of 2024.

2019 saw the election of Farooq Abdullah, the former chief minister and head of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC).

The seat was also represented in the Lok Sabha by Omar Abdullah, the son of Farooq, and his mother, Begum Akbar Jehan Abdullah.
