The Formula 1 Motor Racing Series will be held this weekend in the Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka. All sessions will be televised live on Sunday at 6 a.m. on Sky Sports F1 and Sky Sports Main Event. Replays and highlights of all the sessions will be available on Sky Sports F1 this weekend. The Japanese Grand Prix is being held in April for the first time ever, and this weekend Suzuka will play host to the fourth round of the 2024 Formula One Championship.
The last time out in Australia, Carlos Sainz broke Max Verstappen’s winning streak by leading Ferrari to an amazing one-two after the Spaniard returned from appendix surgery.
Verstappen had won the previous nine races but retired for the first time in two years due to a brake issue. However, many people believe the Dutchman would not have won the race, or at least not easily, if he had crossed the finish line. Lando Norris’ third-place finish at Albert Park gave him the most podiums (14) without a win in F1, and McLaren should be strong again at Suzuka. Norris and Oscar Piastri finished second and third in the Japanese Grand Prix six months ago, owing to their car’s suitability for Suzuka’s fast, flowing bends.
There is a lot of head scratching at Mercedes since correlation concerns indicate that the car is not extracting the performance shown in the factory. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell both failed to finish in Melbourne, and they will attempt to make amends in Japan, where Yuki Tsunoda will drive for RB on home soil.
