When the two teams faced off in the competition last, in 2017, Bayern Munich emerged victorious in both legs of their last-16 match, 5-1, an embarrassing result that highlighted Arsenal’s downfall.
Arsenal qualified for the Premier League title and advanced to their first quarterfinal since the 2009–10 season after just making a comeback to the Champions League this season.
Because of their recent troubles and their form, Bayern will face the six-time champions as favorites, setting up a matchup with either Real Madrid or Manchester City.
But the home supporters will be concerned about former Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane being on Munich’s squad. After setting a record with 14 goals in 19 North London derbies, the England captain will be eager to upset the rivals of his former team as well as the current Premier League leaders.
